The Cold War

 ۔

When we think about the long term as it relates to American history,

It is not difficult to say that extraordinary military deployments have solved incredible conflicts in the country. From World War II to the Cold War to Korea to World War I, the United States participated in many tactical engagements and won all but a couple. Quite possibly the most bizarre and longest conflict the United States has entered into is the so-called "Cold War."

The Cold War has long been a reality in many top American countries. The justification for the Cold War was that there were no combat zones, no deployed troops, no real insights, and no significant exchanges to account for. All things being equal, this was an extensive stretch of quiet antagonism between the United States and the Soviet Union that lasted from the end of World War II until the mid-1990s.

Incidentally, during World War II, our relations with the Soviet Union became a cold conflict, which was a well-tempered relationship. In any case, there were seeds of "dispute" towards the end of this terrible conflict. With the advent of atomic innovation, the possibility of a "superpower" emerged. The dispute didn't emerge until the Soviet Union started bombing itself and a long standoff ensued, with both nations stockpiling huge numbers of these weapons to warn each other if they happened to get shot. Try not to think.

It was a heated competition that lasted almost fifty years and fought over two economies. The two nations needed to keep up with their own "balance" of nuclear weapons, so neither of them gained more than one power and gave the military a hard time. It was an unusual idea because these two nations possessed enough weapons to wipe out the world many times over, but they demanded "justice" during the Cold War.

No conflict between the Soviet Union and the United States could last. A possible effect of such weapons was the possible destruction of life on Earth. In any case, neither nation was ready to give up and begin a cycle of harmony with the other. So the guns cracked for many days, for many years, for quite a long time.

So instead of fighting directly, the two nations are fighting on a global scale. The Soviet Union, with China's help, gleefully participated in the ignominious loss of Vietnam to the United States. However, at that point the US withdrew from the Afghan Mujahideen, resulting in the Soviet Union losing control of the country. From transition wars, air races, and infrequent showdowns like the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Cold War went on long enough to test the purpose and confidence of both nations to never think back and give them another chance.

The strain on the economies of both nations had a devastating long-term impact in the mid-1990s, especially in the Soviet Union, as the effort to balance a costly and useless force to America won the Cold War by restraint and the will to let go of the pressure. There are not many times such a situation with the American soul, yet it is a situation that the Soviet Union acquired through its own misfortune of not investigating it. Ideally, no other "superpower" ever believes they are ready to reinvent it.
