The Punjab region is a very important region of Eastern Pakistan and North India geographically, culturally, and historically, with its own language, its own culture and its own calendar. If we look at the history of Punjab, it is found that the people here were people of skill and knowledge since ancient times. In the Vedic period (500 – 1500 BC) Punjab was called Sapta Sindhu i.e. the land of 7 rivers, the most important of which was the Indus, around which the people who lived mostly belonged to the Hindu religion lived.
After the Vedic period, the geographical position of Punjab changed and then its name was changed from Sapta Sindhu i.e. the land of 7 rivers to Punjab i.e. the land of 5 rivers which has remained till today. The festival of Hola Mahala, also known simply as Hola, is celebrated on the land of Punjab from the beginning of the new year of the Sikh Nanak Shahi calendar and lasts for 3 days. This festival is similar to the name of the Hindu festival Holi, but unlike Holi, colors are not thrown on each other in this festival, and on the occasion of this festival, the celebrants perform horse riding and other sports in addition to their martial skills. This festival was started by Sikh guru Guru Gobind Singh so that the people of Punjab could celebrate their own festival which is different from Holi to maintain their own identity.
Since the Punjab region is a fertile agricultural land and most of the people here are engaged in agriculture and from the end of the month of Chit, the wheat harvesting season starts here, which has a profound effect on the economy here and by selling the wheat, the farmers get income. To him comes money and prosperity. Tourism in Punjab is also at its peak during the month of Chit and tourists from all over the world choose this month to visit the region as the months following Chit are very hot and easy to venture out during the day. Does not stay.
The religious leader of the Sikhs in his book Guru Granth Sahib says about this month: "Chit Gond Aradhi O Howe Anand Ghana". That is, in the month of Chit, a very deep peace is revealed by the grace of the creator of the universe, and by meeting the saints, one finds the Lord, and those who find the Lord get deep peace. And yes, there is no doubt about it, he who has found the Lord has found everything.
